Please place me on your email list. My late husband, Philip Arganbright, was a previous resident, and we spent a lot of time at The Center. I was overwhelmed by the support of the men at his funeral in 1996. For several years, after his passing, I volunteered at May Fest and directed a choir at the Christmas party. The Center, now Recenter, will always hold a special place in my heart.
I have been so very blessed by the Recenter. I have attempted long-term sobriety many times but only the holistic approach offered at the Recenter has helped me maintain sobriety. The inclusion of women into your program has saved my life. After furthering my education while residing at the Recenter I look forward to giving back what has so freely and lovingly been given to me. I lived 8 years on the outskirts of society and am now a productive member of society. The Recenter works. It simply and beautifully works.
I would like to express my gratitude for the Recenter of Houston,TX. To the Board of Directors, I say thank you for allowing me to be the 1st female client of an organization that catered exclusively to men for that better part of 65 yrs. I can only imagine the work that must’ve gone into such an undertaking. My warmest regards to Ms. Mende S., for suggesting that I would be a prime candidate for the program and a heartfelt thanks to Mr. Fred D. and Mr. Steven B., for agreeing. To Mr. Charles C., thank you for allowing me to perform the service work that would enable the inception of the female clientele sooner than anticipated. A special thanks to the 2nd female, Ms. Samantha A., who stood toe to toe with me as we prepared the dorm that would eventually house our sisters in recovery.. I would like to thank the male population for welcoming us into the fold. Lastly, but most assuredly not least, all the praise and glory goes to my Higher Power for leading me into the midst of such an awesome group of people, As I embark upon yet another leg of my journey into recovery, I shall always be grateful for the Recenter. GOD BLESS and THANKS

I spent 5 years at the old Mens Center. During that time I went from the sick room,to the front desk, then the coffee bar and then was assistant Manager and on to be the operations manager. I cannot begin to tell you much my life changed because of this. It has been 17 years now and my life was completely transformed. Since leaving the center I have lived all over the world and reside in the Netherlands. I am a senior executive marketing director for a huge Natural health business that’s global. I happens to see what the center transformed into and all I can say is it’s absolutely incredible. I came from the old school of the center when Pete Hope, Kenny Reed, and a bunch other of the old timers were around. I was and still am very blessed in life. Next time I make thru Houston I will pay a visit. God bless you guys and all you CONTINUE to do.
Peace always, Jim Hood.
